Dr Jean Chai is an experienced eye surgeon who practises General Ophthalmology, with clinical expertise in cataract and refractive surgery (LASIK), as well as corneal and external eye diseases management.
Dr Chai graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2004, where she was placed on the Dean’s List. She received her ophthalmology specialist training at the Singapore National Eye Centre and trained in the subspecialty of corneal and refractive surgery.
She was awarded the MOH Healthcare Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) fellowship in 2011 which enabled her to train at the Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, New York, USA, under the tutelage of Dr Eric Donnenfeld, and Dr Henry Perry in corneal and refractive surgery.
Prior to private practice, she was a Senior Consultant in the Corneal Service at the Singapore National Eye Centre and Department of Ophthalmology of Changi General Hospital. She was also the Programme Director of the Singhealth Ophthalmology Residency Programme, overseeing the training of residents in becoming the Ophthalmologists of tomorrow.

Cataract surgery including femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and use of premium lenses
Corneal and external eye diseases including dry eyes, blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction, allergic eye diseases, conjunctivitis, infectious keratitis, pterygium etc.
Corneal surgery including pterygium surgery and advanced techniques of corneal transplantation
Various refractive surgical techniques including Femtosecond LASIK
